XVI International Conference on Patristic Studies

The XVI Conference on Patristic Studies will be held 8-13August 2011 in the Examination Schools in Oxford. The deadline for submitted titles with abstracts is 31 March 2011, and the deadline for submitted workshop titles is 31 May 2011. For information go to www.patristics.org.uk.

12th International Conference of the International Society for the Study of European Ideas

The 12th International Conference of the International Society for the Study of European Ideas, on the topic "Thought in Science and Fiction" will take place in Ankara, 2-6 August 2010. The Conference will contain a special workshop entitled "The Divine Omnipotence in Medieval European Thought" and chaired by Filip Ivanovic. The aim of the workshop is to reconsider the attribute of the divine power as elaborated during the Middle Ages, in both Western and Byzantine cultural spheres, in theological, philosophical, literary works (papers that deal with Byzantine tradition are particularly encouraged). Australia

The sixth annual conference of the Australian Early Medieval Association meets from 30 September to 2 October, 2009, at the Caufield campus of Monash University. The theme is "Gathering the Threads: Weaving the Early Medieval World". Papers devoted to the topic of the interaction of cultural differences or any topic relevant to early medieval studies are invited. The Centre for Early Christian Studies of the Australian Catholic University in association with the Asia-Pacific Early Christian Studies Society is pleased to announce the forthcoming conference Prayer and Spirituality in the Early Church VI: ‘Religion and Politics’. Keynote speakers will be Sarah Coakley (Cambridge), Hal Drake (University of California, Santa Barbara), and Sean Freyne (Trinity College, University of Dublin). On 26-28 October 2009 the Faculty of Theology at the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven is organizing an international conference on "Episcopal Elections in Late Antiquity (250-600)". The Canadian Society of Patristic Studies will hold its annual meeting at Concordia University, Montreal, Quebec, 30 May – 1 June, 2010 in the context of the Congress of the Humanities and Social Sciences. Czech Republic

The Patristic Society of the Czech Republic is organizing a small international colloquium on the thought of Dionysius Areopagita, with a special focus on Divine
names. It will take place in Prague at the Protestant Theological Faculty, Černá 9, on 30-31 October 2009. The languages of the colloquium are English, French and German.
