Patristic Studies in the Twenty-first Century: An International Conference to Mark the 50th Anniversary of AIEP/IAPS, 25-27 June 2013

To mark the fiftieth anniversary of its inception, the International Association of Patristic Studies, in collaboration with the Center for the Study of Christianity in the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, will convene an international conference in Jerusalem on June 25-27, 2013.  The theme of the conference will be the state of patristic studies in the twenty-first century, focusing on the implications of the various settings and interests of patristic studies for the future of the field. Convegno Internazionale di Studio nel XVII centenario dell’Editto di Milano, «Costantino a Milano. L’Editto e la sua storia (313-2013)»

Il Convegno, organizzato dalle tre istituzioni milanesi - Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, Università degli Studi di Milano e Veneranda Biblioteca Ambrosiana -, vedrà la partecipazione di numerosi studiosi italiani e stranieri, che prenderanno in esame il tema con tagli differenti (storico, religioso, culturale), coprendo un arco cronologico che va dall’antichità all’età contemporanea. I lavori del convegno si svolgeranno presso l’Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore (8 maggio), l’Università degli Studi di Milano (9 maggio) e la Veneranda Biblioteca Ambrosiana (10-11 maggio). The 11th International Conference on Origen Studies: Colloquium Origenianum Undecimum, will take place in Aarhus University, Denmark. The theme of the conference is “Origen and Origenism in the History of Western Thought”. This theme includes a number of sub-themes, such as the reception of Origen and Origenism in philosophy and theology, from the earliest reception in the third and fourth centuries through the Middle Ages to the most recent reception in the 20th century; the philological work on Origen's texts; the use or rejection of Origen's exegetical principles etc. The deadline for proposed lectures is 1 October 2012; the deadline for proposed papers and workshops is 1 December 2012. Le prochain colloque de Patristique et d’Histoire ancienne, consacré aux « Pères de l’Eglise et l’exercice du pouvoir », se tiendra à la Faculté de Droit de La Rochelle, du 6 au 8 septembre 2013. S’inscrivant dans la suite de l’édit de Galère (311) qui accordait aux chrétiens le droit de pratiquer leur religion, les décisions prises à Milan par les empereurs Constantin et Licinius en février 313 allaient en modifier le sens de façon déterminante tant pour l’Empire que pour l’Eglise. Plutôt que de reprendre à l’occasion de ce dix-septième centenaire de l’« Edit de Milan », le dossier si souvent traité des rapports entre Eglise et Etat, c’est l’impact même de cette transformation au sein de l’Eglise que ce VIe colloque de La Rochelle se propose de considérer à nouveaux frais à l’échelle de l’Antiquité tardive. G.Tsereteli Institute of Oriental Studies at Ilia State University, Institute of Classical Philology, Byzantine and Modern Greek Studies at Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University, and Shota Rustaveli Batumi State University are hosting an international conference “Byzantine Studies in Georgia – 4” on 24-30 September 2013.
